About this deal

Pusser's is a Navy Rum created from a blend of pot-still and column-still rums from Guyana and Trinidad with at least one wooden pot-still used.

The original strength of rum served on board British naval ships was 57% and today Wood's is the only Demerara rum bottled at this strength. This uncommon strength brings out the best of our flavours - punches of brown sugar and thick toffee. Made from sugar cane grown along the banks of the Demerara River, it is still made in traditional pot stills to produce a dark rum of uncommon strength. If you’re looking for a proper rum with flavour ignore the 1 star review, but beware, it’s strong stuff! Note: As of 2019, this rum has been discontinued and replaced with a 15 Year version made entirely from Guyanese rums.

It may not be reproduced in any way whatsoever without Wm Morrisons Supermarkets Limited prior consent, nor without due acknowledgement. The spirits are then aged in Scotland in American refilled oak barrels for an average of 3 years, before being blended and made into Wood's Navy Rum. Lars Renbjer, co-owner of Sweden’s Gunroom spirits, has exhaustively studied centuries old “navy style” blended rums. It may not be reproduced in any way whatsoever without Ocado Limited's prior consent, nor without due acknowledgement.

Not sure how someone could give this 1 star, there must be a problem with their taste buds, I’ve been drinking Woods for years and apart from a very expensive aged rum I had in Barbados it’s the best rum I’ve ever tasted. Strong too, you might expect the high alcohol to add harshness but instead it smooths all the flavours into one delicious hit. Although the British Royal Navy stopped providing rum rations in 1970, you can still enjoy the same rum formulation thanks to Pusser's Rum. What do you do when you want to test the strength of your rum but are on a ship in the middle of the ocean? Wood's is the only Demerara navy rum still bottled at 57% ABV, the original strength served on British Navy ships.Master Distiller Maggie Campbell, previously with the renowned Germain-Robin distillery, has put out a series of expressions that are turning heads in the rum crowd. D. is a blend of rums from Barbados, Guyana, and Jamaica in the overproof dark style, and replaces Plantation’s Trinidad-sourced Original Dark Overproof Rum.

Its gold color implies more aging than you might expect – the oldest rum here is three years, and most is far younger. This distillery boasts 9 different types of stills of which seven are used with this rum, two of which are wooden (their Port Mourant double wooden pot-still and their Enmore wooden Coffey still). A small plus is the packaging, that pop as you draw the cork adds to the taste buds anticipation of a tot or two. If you're looking for the true Navy Strength ABV version, look for the brand's Gunpowder Proof with a black label. While we have taken care in preparing this summary and believe it is accurate, it is not a substitute for your reading the product packaging and label prior to use. Wood's Navy Rum is a traditional British naval style rum, still bottled at 57% and made to the original navy recipe from 1887.
