About this deal

The ending of this book 🤯 It has me on the edge of my seat and I cannot wait for The Bonds That Break Us! The characters are just painstakingly dull. I understand that the author was going for a "respectful" play on vampires, but there was a way to do that without making them lifeless. (pun intended) The main character was also just as dull as the rest of them. You’re of better use to me alive—for now. I can smell them on you—filthy, rebellion trash. You’re harboring their secrets. You can either share them willingly, or I can rip them from your tongue myself. It’s your choice, witch.”

Wilbur walked so lost in thought he failed to hear the twin pair of footsteps fall in step with his own. Above him, a crow sat, watching. there had been more of this around as well recently. There was also some beautiful prose hidden between lots of action. (I wish there was more time to breathe around some of these lines to really take in the beauty of it) The ties of blood are a symphony of hearts, playing a melody of love that resonates through generations.” In the story of life, friends are the characters who become family, writing their own chapters of support and love.” Family isn’t just a lineage; it’s a network of hearts, each contributing to the tapestry of your life.”The Bound by Blood series will be a trilogy. Book 2 is currently with my publisher, and I am almost halfway through the first draft of Book 3. I am so excited (impatiently so) to be able to share Book 2 with readers because the character arcs that are in store for these two… I adore the trajectory of their relationship, and love watching as they work through all the wonderfully horrible obstacles I am obligated to throw at them as their author. I smiled, wiping a few tears. "No. You didn't. I'd do it all again. All of the good. The bad. To meet you."

The second biggest problem with this was the dialogue. It was... not great. Everything was said so bluntly. Subltly and realism went straight out the window while this was being written. A perfect example of this is as follows. FMC is feigning interest in a guy so she can extract info from him. The first time she gets him alone, she immediately begins asking about the topic that she's extracting info about. Genuinely, she doesn't deviate from the topic ONCE during their date. And the guy isn't suspicious or put off by this at all. It was all very clunky and had no sense of subtlety or realism whatsoever. Readers who enjoy books that are deep and dark and are gluttons for tension between characters. THE BLOOD THAT BINDS US is a second-world fantasy, but it has several elements of dark romance pulled through it. It is a true enemies-to-lovers story, including all the complicated, twisted, and downright messy parts that go along with that. I think it will appeal to readers who enjoy the sweeping fantasy worlds of Carissa Broadbent, but also love the dark relationships in Emily McIntire’s and Sophie Lark’s books. In the vast expanse of life, blood relations are the constellations that give us a sense of belonging.”

The smut in this was well-written and the story was well-paced. Also, Sol is a total sweetheart, and it is stupidly easy to simp for the big dragon man. I felt emotionally connected to these characters, their experiences, and the relationship that forms as they both risk moments of trust and vulnerability….all while unable to deny the pull and magnetism they feel towards one another. The world building in this book is absolutely phenomenal. At first, I was slightly confused, but that has nothing to do with the way it is written. Friends are the confidants, the support system, and the soul siblings who bridge the gap between blood relations.”

He was caught between two worlds, forced to feed upon others lest he withers away into Dust. A monster, powerful and hungry. With no other choice, the man slipped into the shadows, doing what he did best: Hiding and surviving. I believe the characters had some amazing development, especially when it came to a certain devastatingly handsome, Dark Art. I believe he grew the most throughout the story. I loved Wren as our FMC. The strength and power she possesses makes her such a threat and she wears that with pride. I respect her greatly for that, knowing how much she had been through. You could really feel how each character felt while only reading through 1 point of view. I found that fascinating! The strongest family ties are often the ones woven through friendships, compassion, and shared moments.” This comment contains spoilers, so please don't read if you don't like spoilers! This is my personal rating for "The Blood That Burns Us"!

OH MY GOD is it bad. This book reads like a 2012 Wattled story that should have never even been up on that app. This story was so badly in need of an editor that I'm curious if it was written in the notes app - because some of these mistakes should have been fixed through Word or even having gramercy installed. In the tapestry of life, family is the thread that weaves us together, creating a strong and unbreakable bond.” Be careful, Wilbur. The Hunters say there's more out there and that people should stay inside. It's late. People are disappearing, Wilbur." Something in His chest twisted over the fact she cared. He smirked, keeping his gaze soft. He sidesteps the assaulting water with ease and crosses his arms against his chest. “The last time I lost sight of you, you made me chase you half the day. I’m not in the hunting mood tonight, witch.” The love between friends is a kind of blood connection – invisible, yet deeply felt and unbreakable.”

Blood may be a commonality, but shared experiences and laughter create the true richness of family.” This book needed a lot of critical attention. Editing would have been an excellent beginning point to smooth out the very rough dialogue and details like slang and choppy structure. Without it… this book… ya know. (My irritation rose per every ellipsis in this book and dear God, so many. It wasn't like Cokeley had anything super heavy to say, unsure why she went so hard on them). As hostilities deepen and war draws near, Wren is determined to rein in her wild magic and bind it to her will. With the lives of everyone she loves at stake, Wren must look within and decide if she is the monster she fears, or if there is light to be found in the darkest parts of herself. Good, then they'll know you're mine. Wren-what a pretty name. Let's see if you sing like one too."…. her heartbeat was identifiable, thundering. it was beautiful music to my ears. the best sound in the entire world.”Wren has never stolen a life, but that doesn’t stop her from believing her darkness makes her a walking nightmare. Harboring a power so lethal, unpredictable, and entirely forbidden by kingdom law, Wren’s spent her whole life hiding what she is—who she is. A bloodwitch.
